Industrial Partnership of the Republic of Karelia (Russia) and Vasterbotten County (Sweden)

The main aim of the action is the development of the industrial partnership of the Republic of Karelia and Vasterbotten County within the process of outworking of the “Strategy and Action Plan for the Barents Region up to 2010”, which is being developed within the Interreg III B project of the same name.

The action of the project Industrial Partnership of the Republic of Karelia (Russia) and Vasterbotten
County (Sweden)  will reveal the interests of Karelia and Vasterbotten in  the development of the
Strategy and Action Plan for the Barents Region up to 2010 regarding industrial development. The action will contribute to the local economic development in a sector of “Economic development with sectoral  focus.”

The action meets the needs of the industrial enterprises, regional authorities, politicians, higher educational institutions and research centres, NGOs both in Karelia and Vasterbotten. As one of the resullts of the project a SWOT-analysis of industrial potential of Karelia will be produced with the assistance of foreign experts. Several cross-border industrial co-operation projects will be created.
