The first Barents Industrial Partnership Meeting

The meeting was arranged in Stockholm January, 20-21, 2004. Attending did representatives of industrial key actors and relevant public bodies for a joint conference of major industrial projects in selected industrial sectors.  At the meeting, governmental representatives of the Barents’ nations presented their views on industrial co-operation and how it can be facilitated. The representatives from the selected industrial sectors was invited to propose a number of possible industrial cross-border projects that would contribute to the creation of a Barents Growth Region.

Hopefully this meeting will set the stage for a process in which private and public actors will be able, through co-operation, to design a working model for the Barents Region to mobilise capital for investments in major industrial and infrastructure projects, technology development and environmental facilities, which lead to sustainable growth and social welfare in the entire region.
